Uncovering the Value
A law firm focusing on estate planning and family law discovered that a
vindictive husband was hiding potentially valuable assets from his wife in the
form of patents and other IP. Through a series of interviews and research we
uncovered a commercially-viable IP portfolio to which the wife had rights. The
process not only provided a source of income for the wife but gave her and her
attorneys a better understanding of the asset management process and a
strategy for future management of her portfolio.

Increasing Value by Licensing Technology
A Fortune 200 OLED (organic light-emitting diode) vendor, aware of their large
patent portfolio, wanted to know whether to enter the market by in-licensing
gap-filling technology or out-licensing their technology to others. We mined their
patent portfolio and that of the current market, analyzed their position in
relation to the competition, and recommended a strategy. The organization
chose to license their technology for others to commercialize, leveraging the
strength of their patents and increasing the value of their assets; projecting a
29% product CAGR (compound annual growth rate).

Competing in an Open Market
A Fortune 200 medical product vendor sought to determine whether or not the
time was right to expand into a specialized segment. They needed to know
precisely what their R&D investment and IP value was in relation to the
competition. We mined their patent portfolio and that of the current market,
analyzed their position in relation to the competition, and recommended a
strategy. Aware of their position - strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and
threats - they successfully moved into the segment; projecting $500M in top line
revenue.

Increasing Value and Alleviating Exposure Points
An SME technical operation was concerned about information exposure points,
particularly their customer service trade secrets. They didn't realize the many
information and intellectual assets hidden in their knowledge capital - their
employee's expertise. We documented their processes and procedures, and
helped the client understand the structure of their intellectual assets. We
helped them develop, implement, and monitor an IPAM program that reduced
the cost of overall operations and increased the corporate value.
